Setting Up Microsoft Authenticator

In this section, we review how to set up Microsoft Authenticator, an application that generates two-step verification codes, on your mobile device.

Note: If the 2FA setting has already been enabled for your account, you will still be required to complete your Microsoft Authenticator setup. During the next login attempt, the 2FA configuration page will display, prompting you to set up Microsoft Authenticator on your mobile device.

To properly set up Microsoft Authenticator, complete the following tasks:

  1. Log in to the Managed Services Platform.

  2. At the top right of the login page, click on the arrow that appears next to your username. A drop-down menu appears.

  3. Click on 2-Factor Authentication. A dialog box appears, and displays the status of your 2-Factor Authentication settings.

    Note: This dialog box will appear automatically upon the user's next login if the 2-Step Verification field remains disabled.

  4. Click the Edit button to update your settings.

  5. In the next dialog box that appears, select your mobile device type. For example:

  6. Click Continue.

  7. Select Microsoft Authenticator as your authentication type. For example:

  8. Before you continue, make sure that Microsoft Authenticator is installed on your mobile device.

    Note: If you don't have Microsoft Authenticator installed on your phone, you must set it up by downloading it from either the Google Play store or Apple's App Store.

  9. Click Continue.

  10. Open Microsoft Authenticator on your mobile device.

  11. Tap on Get Started.

  12. In Microsoft Authenticator, navigate to Menu and select Set up account.

  13. You can set up your Microsoft Authenticator account in one of the following ways:

    • Select Scan Barcode or Scan a barcode. Once the scanner is active, use the camera on your mobile device to scan the barcode. Enter the six-digit verification code that is generated by Microsoft Authenticator and click Verify.
    • Select Enter Code Manually. Enter your account ID and a secret key. Once you've created your secret key, tap Finish. Microsoft Authenticator Barcode Scan

  14. Once Microsoft Authenticator is set up, enter the generated six-digit verification code that appears in the Code field.

  15. In the Password field, enter your Managed Services Platform login password.

  16. Click Verify.

    This activates your Microsoft 2-Factor Authentication. You will be asked to enter your 2FA verification code, along with your account ID and password, the next time you log in to the Managed Services portal.
